September Spotlight
Alexander Valley Healthcare (AVH) is thrilled to announce a generous and impactful gift of $100,000 to the Health & Wellness Center campaign from Tim McDonald and Bob Scott.
And, in addition to this generous pledge, Tim and Bob have designated AVH as a beneficiary of their estate! This planned gift will have a transformational impact on the future of AVH, ensuring the long-term success of the new Health & Wellness Center and AVH’s work in expanding access to healthcare throughout our region.
Tim and Bob are well-known in Cloverdale for their deep commitment to the community. Bob served on the founding board of La Familia Sana and as treasurer for the Cloverdale Performing Arts Center for many years. Tim has also been highly involved, serving on the Executive Committee of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin and the Wetzel Award Committee for the Healthcare Foundation of Northern Sonoma County. Notably, Tim served on the AVH Board of Directors for six years, concluding his tenure as Chair.
Today, they continue to give back to the community as Reverend and Deacon, respectively, of Good Shepherd Church. Their dedication to community service is evident not only through their time and talents but also through their generous financial contributions.
AVH is grateful for the support of these community leaders and friends. Thank you Tim and Bob!
If you would like to consider a planned or estate gift to AVH, there are numerous ways to do so, including through your will or trust, tax-deferred retirement accounts, Donor-Advised Funds, or Charitable Remainder Trusts.

BRINGING ESSENTIAL SERVICES TO OUR PATIENTS
On Wednesday, September 4, AVH welcomed the Alinea Mobile Mammogram Unit to our Tarman Medical facility. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of AVH staff Brianna Ketzer (center) and Luisa Rodriguez (right), patients who required mammogram services were personally contacted and scheduled for their screenings. Brianna and Luisa also made sure to accommodate walk-in appointments, ensuring more women had access to this vital service. In our rural area, many patients face barriers to healthcare such as limited access to transportation or the difficulty of taking time off work to travel for preventative screenings. By partnering with Alinea and Partnership Health, (Daisy Contreras, left) AVH was able to bring this life-saving service directly to our community. Early detection through screenings can save lives!
MEET THE NEWEST MEMBER OF OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM
Ryan Davis, HR Director
Ryan attended Shimer College in Chicago, Illinois, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities with a concentration in Professional Educational Development. He has since applied this training at three organizations across five years as a Director of Human Resources, assisting large and small organizations with expansion and cultural reorganization. During this time, he served as System Director of Human Resources for the Northern California Behavioral Health System, overseeing two acute care psychiatric hospitals, including the opening of Sacramento Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, the first freestanding psychiatric hospital in California in over thirty years. A Sonoma County native, Mr. Davis is excited to bring his training in organizational development and diversity, equity, and inclusion to Alexander Valley Healthcare in his local community. He currently resides in Sebastopol, California, and enjoys spending his free time reading classic literature, taking his dog Riley to the beach, and tinkering with electronics. Welcome to AVH Ryan!
CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF PATIENT CARE
This August, Alexander Valley Healthcare (AVH) proudly celebrated 30 years of unwavering commitment to our community. Established in 1994 in Cloverdale as Coppertower Family Medical Center, AVH began with a mission to provide essential medical and dental care to Medicare and Medicaid patients who were often overlooked by local providers.
A decade later, with the departure of the last private practice physician in Cloverdale, AVH became the sole medical provider for the entire region between Healdsburg and Ukiah, solidifying our role as a vital healthcare resource for the community.
In 2013, AVH achieved a significant milestone by becoming a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This designation not only provided annual federal grant funding but also increased Medi-Cal and Medicare reimbursement rates, enabling us to expand our services. With these resources, AVH was able to address the evolving needs of our community by adding mental health providers and substance use counseling to our range of care.
For the past 30 years, the dedicated staff and providers at AVH have been committed to delivering exceptional patient care. As we reflect on our history, we are excited to continue this legacy of service for the next 30 years and beyond.
Alexander Valley Healthcare gratefully accepts your donations to support our ongoing work, or towards our Capital Campaign to build the new Health & Wellness Center.
