Board Application

Alexander Valley Healthcare (AVH) needs you!

Join our Board of Directors and make a difference in your community.

AVH is Patient Centered & Community Focused

The AVH team of providers works together to support the health and wellness of all residents in our service area – Geyserville, Cloverdale and Hopland. They pride themselves in providing compassionate, high quality and affordable care across the entire life span of their patients.

Alexander Valley Healthcare was incorporated in 1994 as Coppertower Family Medical Center, offering medical and dental services from a modest, three-story facility in downtown Cloverdale. A decade later, the last private practice physician in Cloverdale departed, leaving AVH as the sole primary care provider between Ukiah and Healdsburg.

In 2013, AVH was designated a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) which allows it to receive federal health care grants and enhanced Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement. With the new designation, AVH was able to expand its services and staff adding general dentistry, behavioral health and substance abuse services, chronic care case management, and other patient services for the community. In addition to serving uninsured and low-income patients, Alexander Valley Healthcare also cares for many privately insured patients and Medicare beneficiaries. In total Alexander Valley Healthcare providers annually receive and care for more than 5,000 patients covering more than 25,000 patient visits.

Recently Alexander Valley Healthcare worked tirelessly to make sure that everyone eligible; agriculture workers, front line workers, teachers, and residents, received their Covid 19 vaccine. Now we are poised to build a new Health & Wellness Center to serve more people and provider a broader range of fully integrated services at reduced costs. Help us grow to meet the changing needs of our region!

We are looking for board members who represent the communities we serve to attend our once monthly meetings and to serve on one of the Board Committees. Because we are an FQHC, at least 51% of our directors are required to be patients. That means the patient’s voices are heard at the highest level of the organization.

  • Do you care about having equitable patient-centered medical care in our region?
  • Does access to healthcare for everyone; insured, uninsured and underinsured matter to you?
  • Do you have a desire to give back to your community?
  • Do you have experience in accounting, education, marketing, social services, community affairs, fundraising, building, healthcare?

Voices from the AVH Board

“I have been a long-time, satisfied patient of AVH. The follow-up on my health needs is excellent and the staff is quick to address patient concerns. Serving on the AVH board of directors gave me an opportunity to better understand healthcare issues, policies and best practices. As a director, it was gratifying to use patient and community input to improve care and operations.”

Paula Wrenn, AVH Patient, Former Board Chair

“Serving on the AVH board is gratifying. As a group of local residents, we are very enthusiastic about being the major healthcare provider for our cities. Quality ratings are high and our COVID vaccine roll out is one of smoothest and most efficient in the county.
