Dear friends,
Let me start with my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to our 2024 Alexander Valley Healthcare year-end campaign. Through the generous support of over 70 individual donors, we met and exceeded our ambitious goal of $100,000. This success is a testament to the strength and spirit of our community!
A special thank you goes to the Merlo Foundation for their inspirational matching grant. I am also incredibly grateful to the Foley Family Foundation for their extraordinary generosity which helped us achieve our goal, as well as their kind words found below.
As we enter 2025, I am reminded of the many challenges that lie ahead. Our hearts go out to the communities devastated by the wildfires in Southern California. AVH stands side-by-side with our fellow health centers who are providing support and care for those impacted. This recent tragedy brings to mind the challenges our region has faced in the past, and the resilience that brought us through.
Alexander Valley Healthcare is proud to be part of a consortium of regional health centers under the umbrella of Aliados Health. Through regular collaboration, we ensure that we stay on top of the current rapidly evolving healthcare policies, and work together to share resources and knowledge in service of our patients and our communities. In this uncertain landscape we truly believe that together, we are stronger.
Thank you again for your unwavering support. With your help, we can continue to build a healthier, more resilient future for our community.
Warmest regards,
Debbie Howell
CEO
My family is excited to support such an exciting and worthwhile project in the Alexander Valley – one that I know many of the folks who work closely with us at our wineries, vineyards and corporate offices will benefit from for years to come. Thank you and your team for presenting our community with this opportunity. Building another dedicated facility in Cloverdale is a necessity, and I am thrilled that this thriving population in Sonoma County will have more meaningful health resources moving forward.

An update on the new Health & Wellness Center from Board Member, Mark Thayer

“A Health and Wellness Center to make Cloverdale proud for the next 50 years remains the goal of Alexander Valley Healthcare. While no dirt has yet been turned at the project site, staff continues to work with county, state and federal agencies to minimize the chance of encountering bumps in the road once work is underway. With construction costs rising, fluctuating interest rates and healthcare market uncertainty, the project team has prudently decided to take a two-phase building approach. Phase one will be a two-story building of 25,000 square feet. This will double the footprint of our current medical, dental and behavioral health facilities while adding space for Urgent Care, pharmacy and lab services and the Sonoma County Department of Health and Human Services. Starting with a smaller footprint will lessen the financial impact to our organization, something of which we are acutely aware given the possibility of changes to federal policy. Our focus remains on the quality of care and the expanded services which will be delivered inside the facility, we are confident the result will reflect a perfect balance between meeting our community’s needs and maintaining fiscal responsibility.
The redesign takes into account the impact of hundreds of new homes now under construction and an anticipated surge of patients as new residents make Cloverdale their home.
Meanwhile, we are taking the opportunity to increase our institutional investment through additional grants and fundraising support, which will place the project on an even stronger financial footing for the long term. Many thanks to all who have contributed to this project to date.”
