Health & Wellness Center: Project Update
Work is moving forward on the new Alexander Valley Health & Wellness Center, and we’re excited to share a brief update.
Permits are in progress. Our permit applications have been submitted and are currently under review by the City of Cloverdale. Because this project includes both off-site and on-site improvements, several permits are needed before construction can begin.
Site work is planned for this summer. Our construction team, led by Wright Contracting, hopes to begin the first phase this summer. the groundwork will include extending Washington Street through to Healdsburg Avenue, as well as storm drain improvements and soil remediation. Construction of the new facility will follow. Interior planning is underway as well. While permits are under review, the AVH design team is meeting every two weeks to finalize the details that will help the center and surrounding landscape to feel welcoming and community-focused.
Alexander Valley is grateful for the Federal, State and County grant funding that has been committed to this project – but we are especially thankful for the continued support of our community. As the interior design is finalized, we will be reaching out to community members and donors to share ways they can be recognized for their support. More details will be provided on the website in the coming weeks.

AVH in the Community
Partnering with La Familia Sana
In February staff members Chris Swartz and Catherine Zatarain were proud to represent Alexander Valley Healthcare at the grand opening of the La Familia Sana Community Resilience and Resource Center.
La Familia Sana provides vital support to local families, including food distribution, housing assistance, and wellness resources. AVH deeply appreciates the important services LFS offers our community and is proud to partner with them to expand access to healthcare.
Through this partnership, we can better connect patients with both medical care and community resources, recognizing that good health depends on much more than clinic visits alone. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with La Familia Sana to build a healthier, more resilient community for all.
Prevention is Key: Mobile Mammograms
Prevention is key to lifelong health, and that includes staying up to date on breast cancer screenings. In March, Alexander Valley Healthcare was pleased to host mobile mammogram services at our medical center, making it easier for patients to receive this important screening close to home.
The mobile mammography unit brought high-quality imaging directly to our community in a comfortable, convenient setting. These screenings help detect breast cancer early, when treatment is often most effective.
We are grateful to everyone who participated and helped make this event a success, particularly lead MA Angelica Contreras. AVH remains committed to expanding access to preventive services like mammograms so our patients and community can stay healthier, longer.
New Provider
Meet Cheyenne Matyac, DNP, FNP-C, Alexander Valley Healthcare’s new family nurse practitioner resident. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from UC Irvine and her BS in Nursing from San Diego State, and spent five years as a registered nurse at Keck Hospital of USC caring for patients with complex medical and transplant needs—an experience that inspired her to focus on preventing and managing chronic conditions in primary care.
Cheyenne is passionate about preventive health screenings, chronic disease management, and improving health literacy in a culturally sensitive way, and looks forward to partnering with our patients to help them take charge of their health. Welcome Cheyenne!
New Technology to Better Serve our Patients
We are excited to introduce new technology that helps us care for patients more effectively and comfortably.
Thanks to generous support from Partnership HealthPlan of California, we now offer Video Remote Interpreting. Instead of an anonymous voice on the phone, this technology brings a live interpreter on screen into the exam room. This allows patients who are best served in a language other than English to communicate more clearly with their care team and feel more supported.
AVH Dental is also thrilled to offer panoramic X-rays with a new machine funded by the Delta Dental Foundation. This fast, non-invasive scan provides a detailed, 2D, ear-to-ear view of the teeth, jawbones, sinuses, and TMJ, helping our dental team diagnose problems more accurately and plan the best care.
